Beach Wedding Dresses

Picking the beach as the location of your wedding automatically opens up lots of creative ideas that will make your wedding stand out from the norm. Simply putting the wedding in a beach setting means you will be enjoying the blessed event in the natural beauty and splendor of one of nature's most spectacular environments. But it also means your wedding will take on relaxed, tropical and "back to nature" feel that will dominate the event. To make sure that every aspect of your wedding from the vows to the music to the gowns fits the setting, think things through in advance so you look back with fondness on the special day.

The decision to go for a beach wedding should be the first one you make because it will have a big effect on planning your dress and other outfits. Even the men may opt for a different look than a stuffy tuxedo or dark suit if they are going to be in a beach environment for a couple hours. So one of your first decisions that will enable you to advise your guests is what the dress code will be. You could go with a very casual wedding and have everyone decked out like a beach party. How you have your guests dress will also tell them what to expect at the wedding. And this decision will reflect a great deal about the personalities of the bride and groom and the "statement" you want to make in this first moment of your union.

Obviously, a very ornate and flowing wedding gown is ill advised in a beach setting. Many brides grow up dreaming of a gown that turns them into a queen or princess for a day with a long flowing train, a veil and a lot of frills and expensive details on a dress that costs as much as the get away car. But on the beach, you want to keep the dress off of the ground as much as possible. Not only is the idea of pulling a long elegant wedding dress train along the sand distasteful, it can create problems throughout the wedding that can hurt the atmosphere and ambiance you are looking for.

Also, keep in mind that an outdoor setting can bring many unexpected circumstances to your wedding. So the more simple the dress for the bride, the bridesmaids and the guests, the better. You may want to eliminate the veil entirely because a sudden breeze can turn that veil into an enemy on your head. Look at the entire outfit in terms of how it might perform in a variety of possible outdoor events. If your area is prone to sprinkles of rain from time to time, you want your gown to weather that easily and without fuss so the "show can go on".

Other things that might happen during an outdoor wedding on the beach might include the sudden interest of beachcombing birds to the arrival of insects to other weather related phenomenon. It is good to have a fall back plan should such an event make it impossible to continue the event. But that is much of the adventure that makes a wedding on the beach so special. Being prepared means you will get around most outdoor interruptions and still have a beautiful and memorable wedding event.
